The Misery of Exile

Los Angeles seen through the eyes of two eminent émigrés. Written between 1943 and 1946, Dommanget's observations are wrapped in a rich tapestry of riddles. French painter Currado Malaspina reimagines this urban dream with beautifully compressed watercolors. Together they have established a new language for visible cities, a fragmented European language that attempts to argue past the failures of Modernist faith.
