Publisher's Synopsis
Herbert Harrison was brought up in Sprowston Mill in Norfolk, which was tragically burned down in 1933. He promised his father that he would preserve the memory of the mill in a book and fulfilled his promise with The Story of Sprowston Mill published in 1949. However, he had also been recording his memories of his idyllic childhood in a manuscript which lay hidden for 50 years before finally being rescued. In inimitable style, he recalls the delights of travelling with his father on his miller's rounds, of cycling to the coast, sailing on the Broads, and even going fishing on a North Sea trawler, how to mount a penny-farthing bicycle, sin a well and play the ancient game of tip-cat. A trained engineer, he also explains the working of the mill.
