Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Mighty Fallen: A Discourse Occasioned by the Assassination of President Lincoln, Delivered in the Presbyterian Church, Batavia, N. Y., Sunday Morning, April 23d, 1865
The first thought suggested by the text in connection with the death of President lincoln, is that a mighty man is fallen. Thank God, that instead of saying in our lament, as we feared we must, when the horrid intelligence of the crime ?ashed along the wires - how are the mighty fallen - gawe are permitted to restrict the language to one, and say - How is the mighty fallen. Our Secretary of State still lives, With hopeful prospect of recovery. Our President only is dead.
