The earliest records available of carlot shipments of vegetables from Mexico to the United States are those kept by the Traffic Department of the Southern Pacific Railway Company of Mexico. Although these statistics begin with 1912, some carlot shipments were made 2 to 3 years earlier. During the revolutionary period in Mexico exports were at a low ebb.
