Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Metaphysics of Historical Knowledge
Our procedure will be brie?y as follows. We shall begin with an elementary analysis of the knowledge of the past. This will lend to certain difficulties, on the one hand epistemological, on the other hand metaphysical. After a solution of the former, the consideration of the latter will involve a discussion of the nature of time. This will occupy a large part of our space, and unavoidably somewhat interrupt our progress. Lastly, however, the epistemological enquiry will be resumed, and followed into its ultimate issues.
