Have limited English-speaking populations suffered through countless hours of inaccurate, sometimes outright dangerous interpretations? No one could certainly state a confirmatory answer about this fact, but there are some reasons to contribute with this interpretation tool to be used for the medical encounter. Several researchers have demonstrated the impact of language barriers on the utilization of health services and the impact of interpreter use. The evidence shows that errors in medical interpretation are common, and those committed by ad hoc interpreters are significantly more likely to have potential clinical consequences than those committed by hospital interpreters.
