In preparing this Manual, the Committee have assumed that the lists of members of the Church, contained in the Manuals of 1872 and 1883, are in the main accurate, and have therefore incorporated those lists, with such corrections as have come to their attention, into the Historian] List of Membership of this Manual. Had the work involved in the other por tions of the undertaking been less, those lists of 1872 and 1883 might have been verified by comparison with the original records.
