The WayLands are threatened by evil - as never before. An army of Black Guards have been brought from Old Earth - Terra - to a new and 'evil realm' that lies beyond The HighLands - hidden from The People - those of the long-lived. It falls to The Mage to face this evil but with the aid of her 'human' grandson and one of Terra's own. Port'yn, unlike his twin brother, his father - The Laird of Midway - and The Mage, is human and despairs as to what he may become in so short a lifetime. Realising her grandson's fears, J'adyn sets Port'yn off on a 'life-journey' that begins within SouthLand but that leads him to both Terra and The Depths of Evil. Alongside his Uncle and The Mage, Port'yn defies 'The Chosen of Evil' within its own realm and finds love from one disillusioned with her own lot, on Earth.
