"THE LOTUS BLOOMS" is A Collection of Poems by RAMSUNDAR PERSAD (1927-2002). These poems express his understanding of human longings for both earthly and heavenly love. Expressing the ephemeral nature of earthly love and life, he longs for Divine communion and union. Poem # 25, "They came, They saw, They conquered", is about his grand mother Gangee Maharaj who came to Trinidad, West Indies in 1900 as an indentured immigrant from Raipur, India.
