The Lightning Tree is a fantasy adventure suitable for 8 to 12 year olds. Twelve year old Sam is unhappy about her family situation and disillusioned with life. When wicked Aunt Sally moves into their cottage with them she feels like things can hardly get any worse. When Sam's Grandfather gives her a mysterious purple seed she can't wait to plant it to see what happens. Along with her brother Josh and their rescue dog, Roger, they find themselves caught up in more and more mystery and adventures. The foxes in the garden, huge apple trees, time standing still, mysterious messages carved into the trees -what IS it all about? Sam and Josh get the surprise of their lives when they end up in a tunnel under the River Forth, escaping from two dangerous criminals. It's not what they expected from their day trip to the beach. Will they outwit the men? Or will they end up in the tunnel forever? Can the Lightning Tree save them one more time?
