It's been ten years since the wraiths had been defeated by the light bearers and the survivors of that time were pulling themselves up from out of the darkness. New families were being formed, families were joining forces to work together to create new communities in an effort to put that time behind them and rebuild.
Hailey thought the need for power of the light was behind them, so thought nothing more of her own loss until the wraiths emerged once again in her nightmares. Paralyzed with fear, and without the power in those terrifying moments, as the wraiths raced towards her young family she was defenseless.
With the increased frequency of her dreams came a flood of questions, the answers which escaped her even in her waking moments. With the dreams came a flood of questions, the answers which escaped her in those terrifying moments.
Were they just nightmares, or did they portend something more? Why had her powers of the light within her dreams abandoned her when she needed them most to protect her own young family? Would it do the same if the wraiths once more hunted the landscape for souls? Without her faith in the power could she awaken the light to save them all when she was thrust once more into the battle?
