Publisher's Synopsis

This is the story of the life, and times of an amazing Bermudian woman, Dr Dorothy Louise Matthews Paynter, who worked her way up from humble beginnings, to make a success of her life. She started out without secondary education, but later settled on her true, vocation in life that gave her the opportunity to travel widely and enrich her existence. In her younger years, she began experimenting with hairdressing in her Grandma's kitchen, and perfected her skills through studies at Apex College in the USA, to become a professional in her field, managing her own business. After marrying with four children, the opportunity finally came to embark on a GED (General Education), course, at a newly, constructed adult education school. This move set her on a path of empowerment that motivated her ambitious mind, to progress from GED to PhD. A second chance of love brought her real happiness, and now at the height of maturity, her optimism shines through as she continues to embrace life to the fullest, treating each day with renewed vigour.
