Kinds of hernia. - There are several genera of abdominal hernias; four of which, however, are more frequent than the others; viz. The inguinal, the fe moral, the umbilical, and the Ventral; but beside these, there is a hernia through the ischiatic notch, one through the foramen ovale, a pudenda], a perin eal, a vaginal, occasional] a protrusion takes Flace through the diaphragm, t e kidneys have been ound in a swelling in the loins, and the small intestines have been seen between the laminae of the mesent ery and mesocolon; but, to the two latter, the term hernia is scarcely strictly applicable.
