Publisher's Synopsis
Much of teacher education is spent on how to achieve specific learning outcomes by effectively using lesson plans, assessments, differentiation, learning goals, and classroom management. The foundation to these important elements, however, is often missed. The foundation of learning is within the teacher herself or himself. It is in how she responds to her students, how safe she makes her students feel physically and emotionally, as well as how she nurtures the students' sense of belonging in the classroom. By using these and other elements, a teacher creates an atmosphere that is conducive and beneficial to student learning and achievement.
