Excerpt from The Law and Practice Relating to Petitions in Chancery and Luna: With an Appendix of Forms and Precedents
Although the jurisdiction by Petition has been gradually extended until it now forms an important part of Chancery procedure, no separate treatise on this branch Of practice has yet been published. It. Has been thought, therefore, that the present work may prove of use to the Profession. The aim of the author has been to collect and arrange the various statutes and cases relating to those petitions which may be presented in the Chancery Division and in Lunacy; and, as such a collection, the work may claim to be fairly exhaustive. The author has further endeavoured to show when petitions will lie, what 'should be their form, and what the practice respecting them.
