Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 77: July 1, 1915
Do the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints realize the importance of the mission and work of the Pro phet Joseph Smith? Do we stop to consider what the conditions would be to-day if such a man had not been upon the earth in these the latter days?
Most people who consider the teachings of the Latter-day Saints are compelled, by yielding to reason, to acknowledge the greatness of the work and the truths that are contained therein; but few stop to consider the importance of the truths that were revealed to man through the Prophet Joseph.
First, he declared to the world that the dispensation of the ful ness of times had been ushered in, which means that there had been other dispensations. It follows that if there had been a first, a second, and so on, and then a - last dispensation, there had also been periods between them when the true church was not upon the earth. But if that is the case, then numerous religious denominations that were and are upon the earth, must be founded upon man-made religions.
