Publisher's Synopsis

When Mediocrites challenges Socrates that faith is truth i.e. a fact set apart and that even natural science is based on faith, he is arrested and questioned by Socrates. Offered his choice of punishment, Mediocrites suggests a moderate fine. On the premise of contemplation of sentence, the hearing is adjourned and Mediocrites is invited to dine at a sumptuous feast prepared by Socrates where he is encouraged to gorge himself on its many delicacies. After the feast it is abruptly announced to Mediocrites that he is immediately sentenced to drink the contents of a large chalice filled with a powerful mixture of laxative and muscle relaxant and then be confined to the agora at Athens for three days without bathroom privileges, completely naked except for a white sheet. (Based loosely and not so loosely on Plato's record of Meno's questioning of Socrates, but let's not call it plagiarism).
