Publisher's Synopsis
This is a discussion of the ballads of Coleridge and Wordsworth, notably those which appear in the work "Lyrical Ballads" (1798) which contains 4 poems by Coleridge and 19 by Wordsworth. This present volume assesses and contrasts their likenesses, their individual excellences and sometimes their weaknesses.;They do have many things in common, most notably the reaction against 18th century modes of writing. That Wordsworth is given more space and Coleridge less lies in the nature of their respective output of poetry.
