Stone served as president of the MHS, and authored a history of the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments as well as a collection of articles on race, including A Mississippian's View of civil Rights, States Rights, and the Reconstruction Background. A second major article by Willie D. Halsell is Migration into and Settlement of Leflore County in the Later Periods, 19876-1920.
