Ancient Indian thought centres around a four-fold value system (purusartha) which was propagated in Hindu sacred and non-religious texts are as follows, dharma, artha, kama, and moksha. The concept of Brahman in Upanishads as the prime principle which became prominent during the ancient period, was cherished by the sages and rulers alike. This volume is a description of ancient Indian value systems based on their nature and its characteristics.
