Francis Thynne suchte dagegen zu beweisen, dass Speght beide gedichte unrichtig benannt habe: B. D. Sollte Chaucer's Dream heissen, unser gedicht aber The Temple of Glasse ein titel. Den er selbst in einer HS gesehen hatte (ausg. Chauc. Soc. Ser. II vol. 13 s. Speght gab aber in seiner zweiten ausgabe (1602) nur insofern nach, dass er mistermed heretofore nderte in commonly entituled. Der name The I le of Ladies, den ich weitaus passender finde, scheint von Mr. Bradshaw 1) herzustammen.
