In order to reduce this work to a moderate tile, fentences fhort and deem ed exprefiive, have been preferred to well turned periods; and'thofe religious tenets are feleeted, which had an influence on po licy and morals, ou-the condition of indivi duals, and the welfare of barbarous, as well as civilized fiates.
