In rewriting the work I have taken the Oppor tunity of supplying some particulars and history of the use and origin Of certain postmarks, as well as Of the sections of the postal service to which they particularly applied. At the end will be found a list Of the various postal rates introduced between 1660 and 1840. To those readers who may con sider the subject not unworthy Of study, these addi tions should be of considerable interest.
