Population health is the study of the health of whole communities and groups. Its major aim is to find ways to reduce illness and handicap among populations at risk. It is assumed that health policies will be greatly improved by a thorough understanding of the sectors of society at high risk of illness, of the causes of the major disabilities and diseases, and of the measures which are successful in improving health.;The book attempts to develop a systematic and factual basis for a total approach to health and provides an analysis of the determinants of illness and disease, and of the effectiveness of interventions and therapy.
