This timely volume features first a section which introduces the background detailing the scope and topics of the field; followed by a section of four different theoretical approaches and their basic research questions, from Dell Hymes´s foundational Ethnography of Speaking and John Gumperz´s Interactional Sociolinguistics to Critical approaches and Postmodernism. The following sections cover Interactional Discourse Features (such as turn-taking and politeness) and Interactional Discourse sites (such as Greek-Turkish discourse).
