A former young soldier helps Richard, Duke of Aquitaine, fend off a group of attackers at a river crossing near Chinon Castle. They establish a friendship and he is knighted into the House of Plantagenet. Later he leads the vanguard of Richards forces bent on recovering the Holy Land from Saladin in the Third Crusade. At the Siege of Tyre, he and two other Spaniards who wear green tunics, distinguish themselves in their combat against the Saracens. Michel is the first to be recognized as the Green Knight of Spain. This is his story and that of his sons in the Middle Ages.
