Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Great Supper, or an Illustration and Defence of Some of the Doctrines of Grace; In Three Familiar Discourses: With an Introduction by Alexander T. McGill
To prevent misapprehension, some explana tion may be needed with respect to the origir and design of the following discourses. They were occasioned by repeated attacks upon the doctrinal system of the Presbyterian Church, apparently made to proselyte its members; and were addressed to audiences of a mixed character, consisting of persons of various religious creeds, and of very differ ent degrees of intelligence. It was therefore the desire of the speaker to adapt his phrase ology, arrangement, and mode of illustration, to the most humble capacity.
