How does our physical body let us know we are ill? Most of the time symptoms will be present or blood testing will disclose abnormal findings. When we are spiritually ill, the same alert process takes place in our spiritual being. Symptoms will be present in the form of lust, over-indulgence, envy, pride, addictions, anger, bitterness, un-forgiveness, and fear to name a few. These symptoms do not confine themselves to non-believers. Professed followers of Christ are also capable of displaying these and other symptoms. If left untreated spiritual illnesses will eventually destroy our physical body, soul (mind, will and emotions), and the people in our lives. Satan our adversary is the culprit of these symptoms. Ephesians 6:12 for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
