Publisher's Synopsis
This edition represents the most complete collection of fragments of Bereshit Rabba from the Geniza that the editor was able to assemble. Each fragment has been transcribed in toto, without emendations or reconstructions, which, to the extent that they are required, are indicated in the notes. The accompanying linguistic analysis has bearing both on the study of rabbinic Hebrew and Aramaic and on the elucidation of the Midrash. In the Introduction, the author discusses the special character of each of the twelve manuscripts in the collection, the relationships between them and their relationships with previously known manuscripts of Bereshit Rabba. The last two chapters deal with vocalization, accents and punctuation.
