The fundamental law of the grating stated by 3. Von Fraunhofer in 1823 is that NA W (sin 9 sin q?) where N is the order of the spectrum, A is the wavelength, W is the distance apart of the lines of the grating from centre to centre, 6 is the angle between the incident light and the normal to the grating.
