"The First Lessons in Hand and Eye Training " is a very successful attempt to develop a system of manual training, modeled on Froebel's system, but elaborated and made suitable for children of ten or eleven years of age. The course includes not only the more advanced kindergarten exercises, but also simple woodwork and moulding in plastilina. The various parts of a model or pattern are to be made on a large scale, and thus a great deal of what is too often hand-training and "eye-straining" is avoided.
