Augustus Drummond is a major leader within the FBI, who heads a special unit of Bureau agents, assembled to deal with the most heinous crimes imaginable. In the face of these dreadful situations, their relationship crystalizes after they experience the loving support of a Navajo holy man who guides them to their "inner warriors." Valkyrie, a mysterious and disturbing character who chooses that ancient name, provokes much of the action in L M Reker's novel, which is a blend of stark polarities with love and compassion at one pole, and ferocious violence at the other. It also asks the question, "What's your fetish?"
