Publisher's Synopsis
This is the sixth book in the Hull General Cemetery series. This volume incorporates all of the writings by Pete Lowden for the website of the Friends of Hull General Cemetery as well as two entirely new works. The writings encompass a wide range of details regarding the workforce of the Cemetery and how it functioned. It also highlights significant dates which, in hindsight, proved to be vitally important to the Cemetery's future. Utilising documents and material that has remained unresearched since its deposition in the archives this book brings to life the fortunes of some of the people who made Hull General Cemetery one of the crown jewels of Victorian Hull and places the Cemetery into the forefront of the social history of Hull.
