"North Atlantic Shorebirds" is designed to provide a comprehensive photographic guide illustrating all the species of waders (shorebirds) that breed in, or occur commonly in both western Europe and eastern North America, in all their significant plumage variations.;The author has included 67 species in this work. Nearly all make extensive migrations between their breeding and wintering areas, and as a consequence species common on one side of the Atlantic occur as vagrants on the other. Thus the book should appeal equally to birdwatchers and ornithologists in North America and Europe at all levels.;Each photograph is accompanied by a caption describing the particular plumage state of the bird illustrated.
