Publisher's Synopsis
The impact of administrative culture on politico-administrative processes is subject of investigation in administrative sciences. Traditionally the investigation focuses on the national level. National characteristics and differences are in the centre of scientific interest. Surprisingly, the European dimension of administrative culture has been neglected so far. However, with the continuous economic and political integration the question of a specific European administrative culture arises almost naturally. The publication therefore treats the following matters: Which characteristics mould the European administrative culture? Which patterns of administrative culture can be observed in the bilateral and cross border cooperation? How do national and supra national systems of administrative culture interact? Which standards form the European system of administrative culture? The publication presents the results of a conference that had been organized in Strasbourg by the German Section of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences, the Council of Europe, the University for Applied Administrative Sciences in Kehl, the Euro-Institute and the Pole Europeen d'Administration Publique de Strasbourg (PAP).
