Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Equitable Jurisdiction of the Court of Chancery, Vol. 1: Comprising the Rise, Progress, and Final Establishment of the Modern Jurisdiction of the Court of Chancery
The volume which I now offer to the indulgent consideration of the public, has for its object to trace the outlines of the history of the Laws of England, so far as they relate to property, and to set forth in a short compass their leading principles. One great end and aim I have had in view is to explain how it has arisen that those laws are administered by distinct tribunals, the Courts of Common Law and the Court of Chancery; and to point out, as far as it can'be done, the boundary lines between their respective jurisdictions.
