That the in?uence of the Brethren and their tenets is still felt among painters is Obvious to those who follow the course of art as apparent in exhibitions, in magazines, and in book illustrations; and, accordingly, among the illustrations to this new edition will be found a few, at least, of the most typical recent manifestations of Pre Raphaelism. Some of these pictures which it was intended to include have been, however, unavoidably omitted, owing to difficulties of various kinds which attended their reproduction.
