Ember Gold, the egocentric star of a series of teen dystopian rebellion movies, is suffering from a PR disaster of her own making and decides to escape by following a hunky stranger on vacation to a third-world country. There, in an attempt to restore her 'good girl' image, she musters up all her acting ability and gives a resounding speech to the island's poor and oppressed people, telling them that she "totally understands their struggle" and that "if they've seen her movies, they know she fights for justice".
But when her words actually spark a revolution, Ember is caught in the middle, unable to return to her luxurious Hollywood lifestyle and completely indifferent to the plight of the people around her who are suddenly looking to her as their leader.
Now, with the future of a nation resting on her shoulders, the whole world is watching and asking the same question: can this ignorant actress step up and become the heroine she portrays on screen?
