The series from which this book is taken was written for teacher training students as well as for in service teachers wishing to improve their teaching skills. It describes the historical evolution of the education system and incorporates an analysis of developments in the educational system during the 1970s and 1980s. Particular attention is paid to the series of major legislative changes culminating in the Education Reform Act of 1988. It covers primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of education and explains the significance of the major agencies with a role in the administration of education from the Department of Education and Science, through to the governing bodies of individual schools.
