The first two chapters introduce the reader to historical background, arche ology, and literary criticism. The treat ment is clarifying, though necessarily extremely brief. Chapter Three deals with priest and prophet, bringing to bear some of our newer knowledge about the relationship of these two groups, especially the fact that they cannot always be considered as being in opposition. The chapter on Prophecy as a Profession supplements the pre ceding.
