These "Notes" to a Sermon preached by Pusey in 1853 are a nearly exhaustive compilation of patristic quotations on the nature of the Holy Eucharist -- defending every point made by Dr. Pusey in his sermon -- that the elements remain after consecration (against transubstantiation), that the word 'transsubstantiation' had a different meaning in the time of the Fathers, and, above all -- that the Fathers speak with a Realism about the objective presence of Christ in the sacrament that is undeniable.
