The following papers are presented by the surgical depart ment of the Harvard Medical School as evidence of its ambition to encourage original work and to train men for research in the many branches of Surgery and Surgical Path ology. Apart from the study of cancer, for which there is a special fund, it is intended to continue the kind of work here represented, both in the laboratory and in the hospital.
