The Diamond Sutra is one of the important Buddhist classics, primarily focusing on the wisdom of emptiness (prajñā) with the aim of dispelling the dualistic attachments we typically hold, and eliminating all attachments and suffering of sentient beings.
This sutra indicates that all things in the world are empty and illusory, and the true nature lies beyond appearances. It suggests that one should "depart from all phenomena" and "have no attachment," meaning one should not be attached or cling to the world.
Classic lines from this text have been passed down through the ages, such as: "One should not dwell anywhere and should thus set the mind," and "All conditioned phenomena are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow, like dew or a flash of lightning; thus should they be contemplated."The four-line verse at the end of the sutra, "All conditioned things are like a dream, a bubble, a flash of lightning, a dewdrop, a phantom, and a shadow; they are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow, and a dewdrop, and should be contemplated in this way," is considered the essence of the sutra.
