Publisher's Synopsis
For 19-year-old Jahzara Sani, life in a small Iowa town is mostly normal. She lives at home with her parents, goes to school, and has a job at a local retail store. The fact that she's a dhampir, half-vampire and half-human, only affects her on days she needs to feed. No one knows what she is besides her parents, and she's comfortable with that.
Everything changes on the day another dhampir strolls into town. Camaxtli is a few centuries older, and inherited different vampiric traits than Jahzara did, but he is still more similar to her than anyone else she knows. Jahzara soon finds out how dangerous her vampire half can be.
When figures from her father's and Camaxtli's pasts appear, leading to the kidnapping of her parents, Jahzara must embark on a cross-country journey with old and new friends alike to save them. Will she have what it takes to embrace her monster side and all the complications that come with it?
