Publisher's Synopsis
"The Demure Union Buster" revolves around the main character, Mike Paneccia. Mike is a middle aged, conservative man who owns a restaurant in Albany, New York. Due to the proximity of his restaurant to several government buildings, the vast majority of his customers are federal, state and local public sector employees. Over the years Mike has come to loathe the laziness, ineptness, greed and corruption of the public sector employees. These feelings are exacerbated when rising public sector union wages drive up Mike's taxes to the point that he might lose the business he has worked hard to build over the last 30 years. Mike starts to envision different ways to get back at public sector union employees and the corruption it generates with unsavory politicians. While deriving devious plots to stop the corruption, he is distracted by the politics of a mid-western Governor who is trying to limit the powers of public sector unions in order to protect the taxpayers. The Governor's efforts are thwarted when a number of state senators flee the state to prevent a quorum which is necessary for a critical vote. Mike is so incensed he decides to drive to where the senators are hiding out in order to make an example of them. While trying to exact his revenge, he bumps into a militia group that is bent on the same mission. Words are exchanged, shots are fired and Mike and the militia go their separate ways. However, something Mike said to the militia leader prompts him to get Mike's license plate number so that he can investigate the claims Mike blurted out in their encounter. After tracking Mike down the militia leader and Mike discover they have a lot in common. Mike discloses an evil plan to kill public sector union employees in New York. Although the plan is actually very feasible, the expense of executing the plan is out of Mike's reach. Tom, the militia leader, makes a deal with Mike to join forces to carry out the mission. Mike has the plan and Tom has the logistics to carry out the plan. Together they put the plan in motion with the FBI and the Albany Police Department hot on their trail. The story follows the implementation of the plan from start to finish and the attempts of law enforcement to catch them and thwart any future terrorist plots. The ending will surprise all.
