Publisher's Synopsis

The Deeside Line was the Royal railway that ran from Aberdeen city centre through Lower Deeside up to Ballater in Royal Deeside which was the station the Royal family arrived at when going to Balmoral Castle. Despite the Royal connection the line fell victim of the Beeching cuts and was closed in the mid 1960s. The route is now a long distance footpath and part of the national cycle network. Unsurprisingly some stations have gone to housing but this illustrated history show it all in its steamy heyday.
