IN accordance with the recommendation of the Chief Magistrate of the country, the men of all religions in the loyal portion of the land, observe this day as a day of fasting and humiliation, and have met together in their sev eral houses of worship, to offer prayers unto the Lord, being specially led thereunto by consideration of the clos ing act in the fearful drama, whose tragic scenes have convulsed the nation's life during the last four years of its existence.
