A novel that takes place in the Balearic Islands (Mallorca and Ibiza), the protagonist of this story is Jaime Febrer, the heir of a Mallorcan family of high birth and flowery lineage, which is completely ruined. He has been in charge of squandering the meager inheritance he received and has to find a solution that prevents the good reputation enjoyed by the Febrer on the island from being shattered. The only possible solution is to agree to a good marriage with an heiress who longs for the reputation of the Febrer name and who can fill the coffers of this family.
