Other descriptions of the general state Of the town of Manchester in the years 1788 and 1799 respectively will be found in the two Charges to the Jury of the Court Leet delivered in those years by Mr. William Roberts and Mr. John Cross, the then Stewards of the Court. These, which will be found reprinted in the Appendices to this volume, contain much information of interest to those who are concerned with the past history Of Manchester.
Sir john parker mosley, bart., was the lord of the manor of Manchester at the time when this volume begins, in 1787. He had succeeded his second cousin, the Rev. Sir John Mosley, Bart.
