Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Confessions of an Elderly Lady
I have but one consolation for the degeneracy of the age, and that consists in the conviction that few records of it will descend to posterity. People seem to loose all respect for the past; events succeed each other with such velocity that the most remarkable one of a few years gone by, is no more remembered than if centuries had closed over it. The present race seem to think only of the actual minute. They are pro digals, who give no thought to their predecessors, and no care to their successors. People were not thus heartless in my youthful days - but every thing is changed!
